Patents
Innovation has been a key focus area since the 2004 creation of Innophos. One measure of our success since our formation is this listing of granted US patents:
and
Part of Innophos’ Innovalt® technology portfolio, which improves road asphalt resistance to rutting and cracking from temperature extremes. These two patents cover methods of adding polyphosphoric acid in a solid form, leading in some cases to handling improvements over liquids.
and
Introduced commercially as Innovalt R, these innovations allow used tires to be used in roadways without affecting asphalt performance. Recycling rubber into roads extends road life while helping to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills.
and
Tricalcium phosphate (TCP) is an ideal source of dietary calcium, since both calcium and phosphorus are bone constituents. Producing TCP in a form that can be easily used for tableting was a difficult task until these inventions, which are expected to open new nutritional supplement market opportunities.
Self-heating packaging is widely used in many applications, including field rations. The chemistry of traditional self-heating technology generates hydrogen gas in addition to heat, which can pose a safety hazard. This chemical reaction in this self-heating phosphate system generates only water vapor and a safe, inert solid.
